In December 1861, the company was founded as a limited partnership H. & J. Huesker & Co., in Gescher. The industrial pioneering spirit of the 19th century and the successful cultivation of flax and hemp made the Münsterland a center of the European textile industry. In 1863, therefore, the production of cotton fabrics began in the newly constructed factory building. The Wilhelminian era enabled rapid growth. In 1867 has already been produced on 200 looms.
