H & W Nutzfahrzeugtechnik is a vehicle construction company from Westmünsterland that has enjoyed a reputation as a specialist for customized transport vehicles for more than 25 years. The foundation stone of H & W was laid in 1989. At that time car trailers were still being built and repaired in a garage. In 1992, the new building of a 600 square meter hall in the industrial park Gaxel, Vreden. The specially developed short-coupling system for Jumbo articulated trains in 1994 was the most important step towards heavy commercial vehicles. In the same year, the first Jumbo articulated trains were produced. From then on, H & W Nutzfahrzeugtechnik GmbH has grown continuously. In 2003, H & W took over not only the product portfolio but also numerous employees from Fahrzeugwerk Orthaus and consequently was able to consistently expand its existing know-how. Starting with smaller contract work, over the years a separate supplier division developed at H & W. This became a permanent fixture in 2004, alongside its own vehicle production. Many well-known manufacturers of the vehicle industry were continuously supplied with assemblies and chassis by H & W. Since the end of 2008 and the associated slump in the supply business, H & W has focused heavily on the development of its own vehicle solutions and pushed them further forward. This development continues under the new management since 01.04.2011. Currently around 100 employees produce high-quality vehicles on approximately 20,000 sqm of covered and 45,000 sqm of commercial space, which have been designed for a wide variety of transport tasks.
