The history of TUPY follows closely the steps of the industrialization of Brazil and the city of Joinville, colonized from the second half of the nineteenth century by European immigrants, the majority of Germanic origin. Albano Schmidt, Hermann Metz and Arno Schwarz, who founded TUPY on 9 March 1938, were descended from these immigrants. Albano was a businessman and partners, people who were already engaged in making iron artifacts, using rudimentary foundry knowledge.
